Jump on to the internet and you can find a barrage of alternatives to medication for ADHD. Everything from essential oils to mindfulness to diet are being offered as treatments for the learning disability. However, parents must tread cautiously as anything being offered as a cure. Many of these alternatives are touted without thorough research and study.

Currently, the American Academy of Pediatrics offers the current standard of treatment for ADHD in children, as a combination of medication, behavioral therapy, parent training and educational support. It is best to do thorough research and discussion with your child’s doctor or therapist prior to embarking on alternative options for your child’s treatment.
