The Academic Coach/Tutor position at Thorup Tutoring is split up into two categories: Elementary School Coach and Middle School/High School Coach. We are seeking applicants in both categories who are highly motivated, smart and organized. Our services take place in-person and occasionally, via an online platform.
Subjects include:
High School Math
Science (Chemistry, Physics, and Calculus)
Accounting
Statistics
Chemistry
Languages including Spanish & Chinese
High school AP subjects
Elementary Education
& more!
We serve our students via in-the-office, in-home tutoring, and online video conferencing.

Responsibilities:
Manage and educate students in a one on one setting
Design and implement lesson plans at varying academic levels
Establish academic goals and milestones with students
Document and communicate progress reports
Provide constructive feedback for students
Communicate progress and/or concerns with parents and management
Qualifications:
Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or other related fields is preferred
Ability to build rapport with students
Sufficient knowledge of core educational subjects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
For Middle School/High School Coaches, competency in Math and Science is required
Overview and Expectations:
Commitment: A minimum of 1 full school year
Training: 12-15 hours (less pay)
Background check is required
Compensation:
Hourly wage ($15-$18/hour starting wage)
Performance review with opportunity for raise at 3 months / 6 months / 1 year
This would be an excellent job for a retired teacher, a highly motivated college student, or someone with an education degree looking for part-time work.
Thorup Tutoring provides one-on-one tutoring services for students of any age. We also provide group tutoring upon request. We are qualified to work with students from pre-school to college. We even tutor adults who have gone back to college! Our highly trained staff is skilled in a wide variety of subject areas.
